I nearly said it

Yay, Google Maps for the UK and Ireland! Don’t we look dwarfed and in the wrong place? Searching by address doesn’t seem to work and they haven’t got the satellite imagery yet. What imaging of Ireland there is, like those that can be seen here, doesn’t compare to the hi-res snaps and aerial photos of North America.
My house.

Cheers for that! I was looking for aerial imagery of Ireland for ages. Now I can do a proper memory map, instead of the one of where I lived in the US.

    Happy to help! ^_^

Hooray! Now they just need to sort out their ’search’ and ‘directions’ and I can finally ditch DTO’s awful Journey Planner once and for all.

I wonder how this impacts Eirepreneur’s “OpenEir” project?

The IOL map thing was about as high res, didn’t cover very much though.

The IOL mapping, now defunct after a failed attempt to turn into a pay-per-use service, was run by Mapflow who also run the IAVI one.

From that first link; wow, I could have sworn that there was some sort of land mass to the east of Britain.

If you go far enough east you’ll come to it… the west coast of North America.
